Nuts & Bolts Session (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM)

Using Interpersonal Styles To Build Relationships

by Dena Farber Schoenfeld

When on your way to solicit a donor or have an important meeting with a colleague, do you consider how best to approach the conversation? Do you think about it from your perspective or from the point of you of the person with whom you’re meeting? Whether collaborating with a colleague, cultivating a donor, or strategizing with a lay leader, understanding interpersonal styles will increase the effectiveness of your relationship.  This session will focus on four distinct interpersonal styles; how those styles work together; identifying the style of those around you; and approaches for collaborating with each one.

This session is eligible for CFRE credit.

Advanced Session (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Lead Trusts Can Come True

by Jonathan H. Gudema, Esq

While Charitable Lead Trusts are very rare planned gifts, and very few gift officers/professional advisors have ever been directly involved in establishing any of them, recent innovations along with the favorable rate environment has led to a resurgence of this complex giving vehicle.  This session will go through the basics along with the more complex aspects of lead trusts so that can understand several recently closed innovative lead trust scenarios.  The goal of the session is to put some new, practical ideas in your hands to bring to your donors or clients. We will only use actually completed gifts for our case studies.

This session is eligible for CPE, CLE and CFRE credit.
